The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced that the return of Nigerian pilgrims from the 2025 Hajj will commence on Sunday, June 9.
This was disclosed by NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Abdullahi Saleh, in a statement issued from Mina on Friday.
The announcement came as he extended Eid-al-Adha greetings to Muslims worldwide.
“On behalf of NAHCON, I heartily congratulate all Muslims on the occasion,” Mr. Saleh said. “We especially congratulate the fortunate pilgrims who witnessed the Day of Arafat.
May Allah accept your prayers and sacrifices and those of other Muslims too.
The return journey for Nigerian pilgrims will begin on the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah, corresponding to June 9.”
According to Saleh, the first return flights will include pilgrims from Imo State via Air Peace, Bauchi State via Max Air, and Kebbi and Sokoto States via Flynas.
He urged pilgrims scheduled for the first flights to prepare for their journey home and prayed for smooth and safe return operations for all.
The NAHCON chairman also called on Muslims to reflect on the values of Hajj and embody its lessons beyond the pilgrimage.
“Trust in Allah, obedience to leadership, and discipline are keys to building prosperous communities and nations,” he said. “We appreciate the patience and discipline shown by Nigerian pilgrims throughout this Hajj. Their conduct has made our work significantly easier.”
Saleh also acknowledged the contributions of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards for their support and coordination, which he said were instrumental to the success of this year’s operations.
He expressed gratitude to NAHCON board members, staff, and ad hoc personnel for their dedication in serving the pilgrims.
Additionally, he praised the role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, noting that their support played a vital role in the smooth conduct of the 2025 Hajj.
“We also commend the quality of services provided in the Mashair areas—Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah,” he added. “NAHCON remains committed to improving Hajj operations with continued cooperation from all stakeholders.”
