The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on Nigerians to offer continued prayers for the nation’s leaders as they navigate growing challenges across the country.

Delivering his Eid-el-Kabir message on Friday after observing prayers at his palace, the Sultan stressed the importance of unity, respect for the rule of law, and communal support for those in leadership.

“The most meaningful way to support our leaders is through prayers for their success, obedience to the law, and by promoting peace and unity among ourselves,” he said.

The Sultan acknowledged the ongoing work of security agencies in tackling unrest but expressed concern about lingering insecurity in some regions.

He urged the nation’s security forces to intensify efforts to protect lives and property.

He also encouraged Nigerians to embrace agriculture, especially with the beginning of the rainy season, highlighting it as a sustainable route to economic independence and food security.

In a related message, the Sultan expressed condolences to victims of the recent flood in Mokwa, Niger State, which claimed several lives and left many displaced.

He offered prayers for the deceased and called on relevant authorities to urgently assist affected families.

“We pray such disasters do not happen again and urge government and relief agencies to promptly support those impacted,” he said.

The Sultan’s remarks reflect his ongoing call for peace, national unity, and compassion during challenging times—particularly during religious celebrations.
