Police arrest 27 suspects, recover weapons, drugs
Security operatives in Kaduna have arrested 27 suspected criminals during coordinated raids in the Kawo area, recovering a cache of weapons and hard drugs in the process.
The spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday.
According to the statement, the crackdown followed a directive from the State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements.
“In a joint operation involving the police, military, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Kaduna State Vigilante Service, several raids were conducted in Kawo and its environs,” Hassan said.
He added that the operation, which began around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, resulted in the arrest of 27 suspects and the recovery of various weapons and substances.
Items recovered included knives, axes, cutlasses, and large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other hard drugs.
Commissioner Muhammad reaffirmed the command’s dedication to preserving public safety, stating that the police would not tolerate any threats to peace in the state.
“Kaduna remains a peaceful state, and we are committed to ensuring it stays that way.
Miscreants will have no place to operate,” he said.
