A deadly early-morning attack by unidentified gunmen on a Tiv community in Ogwutu village, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, has resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two women.
Security sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday along Iyade Road.
The assailants reportedly invaded the settlement, shooting indiscriminately and setting several houses on fire.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Yega Hosamo, was shot and killed during the assault.
Two women—Veronica Jacob Alakashe and Nguvelen Kaase—sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and lower body, respectively.
Both are currently receiving medical treatment at Ochala Memorial Clinic in Abejukolo.
Authorities have since evacuated the body of the deceased to the General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, security agencies have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the attackers.
