Iran launched missile attacks on United States military bases in Qatar and Iraq on Monday evening, according to reports from state-run media.
Iranian state television described the action as a “powerful” retaliation following recent American strikes on key nuclear facilities.
The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that the operation, dubbed “Blessing of Victory”, had officially begun, targeting US positions in both countries.
In Qatar’s capital, Doha, AFP journalists reported hearing loud explosions. The city hosts Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military installation in the region.
In response, Qatar’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air defense systems intercepted the incoming missiles aimed at Al Udeid.
The ministry added that the attempted strike caused no casualties or injuries.
