Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a patriotic leader whose life was defined by integrity, discipline, and unwavering service to the nation.

In a condolence message released shortly after news of Buhari’s death broke, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed deep sadness, urging Nigerians to find strength in their faith in God, the ultimate arbiter of life and death.

“The passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari is a painful loss. It is a difficult time for our nation, but we remain grounded in our faith in Almighty God, who gives and takes life,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa extended his condolences to Buhari’s family, remembering him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He also sympathised with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State, the people of Katsina, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and all Nigerians.

Reflecting on the late president’s character, the governor described him as a man of principle, compassion, and strength.

He recalled Buhari’s warmth and subtle sense of humour, even in trying moments.

“President Buhari was a man of honour—resolute yet humble, bold in speech, and often able to ease tension with his wit,” Aiyedatiwa said, citing a recent encounter with the late president in Sokoto alongside other progressive governors.

He noted that Buhari’s legacy would continue to guide and inspire generations of Nigerians, and prayed for Allah’s mercy on his soul and eternal peace.

“Farewell to a courageous General, a statesman, and a faithful servant of Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
