A touching video has surfaced online showing Zahra Buhari, daughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, in visible anguish on a street in London shortly after learning of her father’s passing.

In the emotional footage, Zahra is seen weeping and shouting uncontrollably while being comforted by bystanders.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, around 4:30 p.m. at a hospital in London after battling a prolonged illness.

In response to the national loss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a seven-day period of mourning. Flags are to be flown at half-mast across the country, and an emergency Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday to organize official burial plans.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila have traveled to London to oversee arrangements for the repatriation of the late president’s remains.

The government of Katsina State, Buhari’s home state, has also declared Monday, July 14, a public holiday in tribute to the late leader.

Tributes have been pouring in from within and outside Nigeria, with global leaders, ex-governors, and prominent political figures describing Buhari as a pivotal figure in the nation’s democratic history.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly has suspended all legislative proceedings until Tuesday, July 22, as a mark of respect for the late statesman.
