A tense scene unfolded on Tuesday at the entrance of the National Assembly complex in Abuja, as security personnel prevented suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from accessing the premises.
Senator Natasha, who represents Kogi Central, arrived at the gate in the company of well-known activist Aisha Yesufu, rights advocate Mama P, fellow activist Randy, and a large group of supporters.
However, security officers stationed at the entrance refused to allow her entry.
In response, Aisha Yesufu confronted the security personnel, questioning the rationale behind the order to deny the senator access.
“The National Assembly belongs to the people. Why are you stopping us? Refusing to comply doesn’t mean we’re cowards,” she said.
The situation escalated as some of Natasha’s supporters began shouting “Push!” and made attempts to breach the gate.
The crowd was later seen marching toward the complex while singing solidarity songs in support of the senator.
