Former Ekiti Deputy Gov quits PDP, set to join ADC

Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signaling plans to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Olusola-Eleka, who flew the PDP flag in the 2018 governorship election, announced his departure in a letter dated July 24, 2025, addressed to the chairman of his ward, Okeruku Ward 2 in Ikere-Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area.

A copy of the letter was obtained by Nigerian Tribune on Thursday.

The academic and politician served as deputy to ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose from 2014 to 2018.

In his resignation letter, he expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities it afforded him, including his time in office and his candidacy in the 2018 poll.

However, he lamented that the party had lost its way and no longer provided a viable platform for credible opposition or national leadership.

“After deep reflection and consultation, I have concluded that the PDP has significantly strayed from its founding principles of constructive opposition and credible leadership,” he wrote. “I can no longer continue with the party in its current state.”

He thanked the party leadership, members, and supporters who had stood by him over the years, and wished the PDP well in its future endeavors.

Reliable sources informed Nigerian Tribune that Olusola-Eleka will formally declare for the ADC during its official unveiling in Ekiti State on Friday.
