The Kogi State Government has pledged to ensure justice is served in the case of murdered photojournalist Ayo Aiyepeku, describing his death as a tragic loss that will not be overlooked.
In a statement issued in Lokoja, Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Aiyepeku’s killing.
“Justice may not bring the dead back to life, but it will console the family of the deceased and assure them that their son did not die in vain,” Fanwo stated. “The safety and security of our people remain a top priority for this administration.”
He stressed that the government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for the journalist’s death are brought to justice.
The statement also confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of Mr. Aiyepeku’s murder as well as the suspicious death of a prime suspect in the case.
The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts by providing credible information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
“We call on the public to stay alert and cooperate fully with security agencies to ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done,” he said.
