A 20-year-old man, Qudri Olasupo, has been ordered to be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Mapo, Ibadan, over allegations of breaking and theft.
Olasupo is facing a two-count charge after allegedly stealing six aluminium windows and a prepaid electricity meter, with a total value of ₦198,000. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Presiding Magistrate O.O. Latunji granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦200,000, with two sureties in like amount.
The court stipulated that both sureties must be blood relatives and deemed reliable.
However, Olasupo failed to meet the bail conditions and was subsequently remanded.
The court adjourned the case until October 28 for further hearing.
Earlier, the prosecuting officer, Inspector Oluseye Akinola, told the court that the offence was committed on August 4, at around 4:00 p.m., in the Adesola Orita-Aperin area of Ibadan.
Akinola alleged that the defendant unlawfully broke into a nursery and primary school, owned by one Oluseyi Dada, and stole six aluminium windows worth ₦120,000 and a prepaid electricity meter valued at ₦78,000 before he was caught.
The prosecutor added that the offences contravened Sections 412 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
