The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested five men over alleged involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery in Doma Local Government Area.
The Police spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said in a statement on Sunday that operatives from the Doma Division raided a criminal hideout in Yelwa Ediya, where the suspects — Darda’u Shehu, Yunusa Malami Hashimu, Musa Abubakar, Ibrahim Musa, and Mohammed Musa, were apprehended.
According to Nansel, the suspects confessed to abducting a serving councillor on May 26, robbing him of two mobile phones, an Infinix Note 30 valued at N250,000 and a Tecno phone worth N20,000.
They were also linked to a July 19 incident in which they allegedly mounted a roadblock on the Doma–Yelwa Road, attacked a resident, snatched his Bajaj motorcycle, and sold it for N970,000. About N100,000 from the proceeds was recovered.
In a separate operation, officers from the Keana Division arrested 20-year-old herder Suleman Mohammadu around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, recovering an AK-47 magazine loaded with six live rounds.
The arrest followed distress calls from Gidan Zaki Hassan, Kuduku, where herders reportedly opened fire after being confronted for grazing on farmlands.
Commissioner of Police Shettima Mohammed ordered all suspects transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to public safety and urged residents to share credible information with security agencies.
