A midnight fire on Monday razed part of a duplex at Oluyole Estate in Ibadan, destroying properties worth millions of naira.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. at Lane 2 of the estate, when flames engulfed the sitting room of the building.

Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident, attributing the cause to an electrical surge from an appliance left plugged in.

He said firefighters, led by ACFS Adedeji, arrived at the scene promptly and prevented the blaze from spreading to other sections of the house.

“Only the sitting room was affected, and no lives were lost. The property was saved from complete destruction,” Akinwande stated.

The intervention also stopped the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
