The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, Eze Elechi Amadi, for allegedly killing his younger brother, Otu Ifeanyi, 18, and attempting to conceal the body inside a plastic drum in Kajola, Odigbo Local Government Area.

Police Commissioner Adebowale Lawal told journalists in Akure that Amadi was apprehended on August 26 while trying to transport the drum on a motorcycle.

The container fell during the movement, exposing the corpse.

A resident, Oluwafemi Oladipupo, had earlier alerted the police after noticing the suspicious drum tied with a black rope outside his residence.

On inspection, officers discovered the victim’s lifeless body inside.

Lawal said Amadi confessed during interrogation that he murdered his brother following a financial dispute, accusing him of unlawfully transferring ₦20,000 from his Ecobank account.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at a mortuary, while the suspect will be charged to court after investigations.

The police commissioner also disclosed that 99 other suspects were paraded for crimes ranging from murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism to fraud, drug-related offences, and illegal possession of firearms.

Items recovered included locally made guns, ammunition, stolen vehicles, fake number plates, and assorted stolen goods.

Lawal praised the cooperation of residents, which he said greatly aided the command’s recent breakthroughs.

He added that the arrests reflected the strategic direction of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the dedication of officers in ensuring safety across the state.
