A 20-year-old man, Olamide Idowu, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing goods valued at ₦1 million.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence around 2:00 a.m. on September 4 in Ikere-Ekiti.
He alleged that Idowu burgled the shop of one Ogunmodede Margret and carted away provisions worth about ₦1 million.
Oriyomi requested an adjournment to enable him review the case file and assemble witnesses.
The defendant, who has no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of shop breaking and stealing.
His counsel, Ayorinde Busuyi, urged the court to grant bail, assuring that his client would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted Idowu bail in the sum of ₦100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter until October 10 for hearing.
