The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a five-day warning strike, set to begin on Friday, September 12, 2025, in protest against unresolved issues affecting its members.

The decision was reached during an emergency online National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Wednesday, which stretched into the early hours of Thursday, September 11.

Confirming the development, the association’s General Secretary, Agbor Affiong, said the strike would commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday and run until Tuesday, September 16.

“All centres are hereby directed to duly inform their hospital managements and continue to press home our collective demands,” the statement read.

NARD President, Osundara Zenith, had earlier disclosed that members were prepared to shut down public hospitals to draw attention to long-standing grievances, including poor working conditions, inadequate power supply in health facilities, downgrading of medical certificates, poor remuneration, and manpower shortages.
