Troops have thwarted a bandit attack on Gago village in Katsina State, rescuing kidnapped residents and killing several of the assailants.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the development in a post on X on Thursday, explaining that the operation was launched as the bandits retreated after the early morning assault.
He noted that the swift intervention by the troops not only secured the release of abducted villagers but also inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The incident comes amid intensified military operations across the North West, as security forces step up efforts to curb recurring assaults on rural communities by armed groups.
