The Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, CFR, has banned drumming in the state capital as he begins his annual Ulefunta leave.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Michael, said the seclusion would run from Monday, September 15, to Sunday, September 21.

The monarch also ordered the closure of the road leading to his palace, with traders around the area directed to shut their shops and stalls for the duration.

Residents were, however, assured of safety as they go about their normal activities, with the palace stressing that the restrictions are part of the traditions of Ulefunta.

The statement added that Oba Aladelusi will use the period to pray for peace, progress, and prosperity in Akureland.

“Akure a gbe a oo,” it concluded.
