Tension has gripped Akure, Ondo State, following the disappearance of a seminar participant whose personal belongings were found abandoned in his hotel room.

The missing man, identified as Olaloye Olatunde, had traveled from Owo on August 24, 2025, to attend a week-long Child Labour programme organized by Trace Project Akure in partnership with Charakids Foundation.

The training, which drew about 56 participants, was hosted at Sunview Hotel, Alagbaka.

Family sources said Olatunde was in touch with his wife and relatives between Monday and Wednesday, but all attempts to reach him from Friday, August 29, proved futile as his phone had been switched off.

Concerned family members who visited the hotel later discovered that, while other participants had checked out, Olatunde’s clothes, shoes and other personal items were still inside his room.

They photographed the items before alerting the police.

The incident has left relatives distressed, with no word yet from either the hotel management or the programme organisers.

Confirming the report, Ondo State Police spokesman, Alayande Olushola, said the matter had been reported to the command and that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit had commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
