The Chief Imam of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Ahmad Oladoke Aladesawe, was on Tuesday laid to rest at his residence on Okeogun Street, Otakpete, Owo, in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The 91-year-old cleric passed away on Monday at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
Until his death, he also served as General Secretary of the League of Imams and Alfas in the Southwest, Edo and Delta States.
Speaking after the burial, the General Secretary of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Akerele, described Sheikh Aladesawe as a man of rare kindness and a unifying figure in the Muslim community.
“People spoke well about the Chief Imam. In fact, people came from across all the Southwest states.
The Muslim leadership in Ondo urged everyone to emulate him because he was a good man,” Akerele said.
