Dr Samuel Ibitoye, Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, has charged road users to value service rendered by the corps and be patient while behind the wheel.
Ibitoye gave the charge on Thursday in Akure at the 2025 Customer Service Week organised by the command with the theme “Mission Possible”.
Ibitoye, who said that the corps officers and men always embarked on advocacy, enforcement, engineering and collaboration with other stakeholders, explained that the aim was to ensure safe roads and living Nigerians.
“To all road users, please value the service we deliver, respect the officers on the roads because they are there to ensure crashes do not happen and when it happens, they are there to rescue.
“If Nigerians can have what it’s takes to have a road safety motivated environment, definitely we have the roads safer.
“So, we are appealing to road users to make use of what we are advocating, abide by the rules and regulations.
“Let patience be your watchword while behind the wheel or use the road as any type of road users,” he said.
The sector commander commended the officers for their professionalism in carrying out their duties on the roads.
He charged them not to relent, rather to turn the challenges faced to prosperity and motivation to do more by achieving the goals of the corps.
“Officers, please put in more effort while discharging your duties.
“Put more effort on enforcement and advocacy so that people can take ownership of road safety administration in the road traffic management.
“Also put more effort in giving quality of service to Nigerians on the roads so that at the end of the day, we have less death and serious injury recorded on Nigeria roads,” he said.
The sector commander, therefore, called on passengers to participate in the road safety by checkmating speeding drivers and not creating distractions.
Also, Mr Tajudeen Kareem, State Deputy Secretary of Road Transport Employer Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), commended FRSC for their service to customers.
Kareem said without the effort of the corps, many lives would have been lost on the roads.
“FRSC sensitization, enlightenment and advocacy have changed the altitude of drivers and we promise to continue abide with the rules and regulations guided the roads.,’ he said.
Similarly, Mrs Betty Charles, Christ Embassy Zonal Rhapsody Manager, Southwest, applauded FRSC for their service to humanity, saying the corps service could not be over emphasised.
