Investigation has reportedly commenced into the mysterious death of a Customs officer, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) Lawal Tukur, who was found lifeless in a hotel room in Katsina metropolis.

According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the incident occurred on October 15.

Hotel staff were said to have discovered the officer’s body around 8:30 a.m. and immediately alerted the police.

“Sources said some empty sachets of suspected substances were recovered from the waste basket in the room.

Three women were also said to have been at the hotel during the incident,” Makama stated.

The women were identified as Khadija Ali, 34, of Dutsin Amare Quarters, Katsina; Aisha Lawal, 30, of Ingawa Local Government Area; and Hafsat Yusuf, 22, of Brigade Quarters, Kano.

Findings by Zagazola revealed that Khadija and Aisha allegedly spent the night with the deceased officer, while Hafsat checked into a separate room in the same hotel later that night.

The officer’s remains were later evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

The body has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
