A Magistrate Court in Kano has directed two popular TikTok content creators, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to get married within 60 days following the circulation of videos the court described as “immoral and indecent.”
The order was issued on Monday, October 20, 2025, by Resident Magistrate Halima Wali, who ruled that the viral clips showing the duo in romantic poses violated the state’s moral and religious codes.
According to the judgment, failure to formalize their marriage within the stipulated time would amount to contempt of court.
The court further directed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to monitor and ensure compliance with the order.
Both content creators had earlier been arraigned for allegedly producing and distributing obscene material on social media.
Mai Wushirya was previously remanded in custody after videos showing him and Yar Guda in what authorities termed “compromising situations” surfaced online.
Officials of the Censorship Board maintained that the duo’s conduct breached laws in Kano prohibiting the creation and sharing of sexually suggestive content.
