The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested four persons, including a young woman, for their alleged involvement in the brutal killing of a man lured to his death by his lover in Gidan Kacha village, Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Ali Salisu from Darnawa village, was deceived by his girlfriend, Rukayya Amadu, who conspired with another lover, Hamisu Ibrahim, to rob and murder him.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the incident occurred on October 4, 2025, after Rukayya invited the unsuspecting Salisu to a secluded area in Dabagi bush under the pretext of a private meeting.

“Unknown to him, Rukayya had arranged with Hamisu to set a deadly trap,” Rufai said. “When the victim arrived, Hamisu ambushed him, tied a rope around his neck, and strangled him before fleeing with his red Kasea motorcycle.”

Further investigations, according to the police, led to the arrest of two additional suspects — Lawali Abdullahi and Ibrahim Abdullahi — who were found in possession of the stolen motorcycle and attempted to sell it in Sokoto.

“All four suspects have been apprehended and remain in custody,” Rufai confirmed. “They will soon be arraigned in court on charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and receiving stolen property.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, commended the officers who handled the investigation, describing the incident as a tragic outcome of betrayal and greed.

“This case is a painful reminder of how deceit and jealousy can destroy lives,” Musa said. “We urge members of the public to exercise caution in personal relationships and to avoid secluded areas, especially at night.”

The CP also cautioned traders and buyers against purchasing valuables such as motorcycles and vehicles without proper verification of ownership, warning that ignorance would not exempt anyone from prosecution for receiving stolen property.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to report suspicious activities promptly.

“With the continued cooperation of the public, Sokoto will remain safe and peaceful for all,” Musa assured.

In a related development, PUNCH Online reported in July 2025 that the Ondo State Police Command arrested one Augustina Mowari, who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death during an argument over infidelity.
