JUST IN: ADC suspends popular chieftain over alleged self-declaration as chairman

The Kebbi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended Sule-Iko Sadeeq for allegedly declaring himself the party’s state chairman without authorisation.

The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Atiku-Musa.

According to the statement, the decision followed consultations within the party and was taken in line with the ADC constitution and directives from the National Working Committee (NWC).

“The NWC has resolved that all state chairmen shall retain their positions until the completion of their tenure, which expires in May 2026,” the statement read.

It added that the coalition leadership of the ADC was unaware of any self-proclamation or unilateral action by Mr Sadeeq, noting that such conduct contravened the party’s internal procedures.

“The State Working Committee (SWC) of the ADC, Kebbi, therefore, officially suspends Dr Sule-Iko Sadeeq from the party and warns him against participating in any party activities,” the statement said.

The party reaffirmed that Sufiyanu Bala remains the duly recognised and constitutional chairman of the ADC in Kebbi State.

It also urged security agencies to restrain Mr Sadeeq from parading himself as chairman or engaging in any party-related engagements under that claim.

“All members, supporters, and the general public are advised to disregard any unauthorised statements or claims by Dr Sadeeq that contradict the official position of the party,” the statement concluded.
