The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents and motorists of their safety following reports of an alleged plan by some youths to disrupt movement on the Third Mainland Bridge.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 27, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the police were aware of online messages circulating about a purported plan to cause unrest around the Oworonshoki axis of the bridge and had taken proactive steps to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Adebisi stated that adequate security measures had been put in place across the state to ensure law and order, adding that officers had been fully deployed to safeguard lives and property.

She explained that the deployment was part of efforts to guarantee the safety of all road users and to ensure the free flow of traffic on the bridge and other major routes in Lagos.

The police spokesperson urged residents to go about their normal activities without fear and to cooperate with security personnel as they perform their duties.

She reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, saying that it remains steadfast in ensuring the free movement of people and goods across Lagos State.

The reassurance comes amid public anxiety over social media posts warning of possible unrest or traffic disruptions on the Third Mainland Bridge — one of the busiest routes linking the Lagos Mainland to the Island.

The Command, however, reaffirmed its readiness to swiftly respond to any threat capable of undermining peace and stability in the state.
