Barely 24 hours after a fatal multiple-truck accident on Kara Bridge caused a major gridlock along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, another crash occurred yesterday on Otedola Bridge, inward the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa.

The accident, involving a 14-tyre tipper truck loaded with granite and an inter-state commercial Mazda bus, caused yet another wave of traffic disruption in the area.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in a statement posted on its official X handle, confirmed the incident and said emergency response teams were promptly deployed to the scene.

According to LASTMA, the truck rammed into a road barrier after colliding with the commercial bus, spilling its load of granite across the expressway opposite Capital Oil, just before the Otedola Bridge section.

The agency said, “A 14-tyre tipper conveying granite had a collision with an inter-state commercial Mazda bus. The tipper ran into the barrier and spilled its contents on the road opposite Capital Oil, just before the expressway on Otedola Bridge inward Secretariat. There is no significant effect on traffic flow at the moment.”

Traffic officers were said to be on ground managing movement, while recovery efforts were underway as a tow truck was being mobilised to clear the affected vehicles.

Friday’s crash comes barely a day after a multiple-truck collision on Kara Bridge, outward Lagos, claimed at least eight lives and left several others injured, causing a massive traffic backlog that stretched through Berger and adjoining routes.
