A Kano State High Court sitting on Miller Road has ordered the remand of one Idris Kurma in a correctional facility for allegedly killing his wife after she refused to prepare kuli-kuli (groundnut cake) for him.
Justice Musa Dahiru gave the order on Friday after the defendant was arraigned on a charge of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.
Prosecution counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki, told the court that the accused, a resident of Goda in Shanono Local Government Area, allegedly strangled his wife, Aisha Idris, following a domestic quarrel over her refusal to make kuli-kuli.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Barrister Dinki requested an adjournment to enable the prosecution call its witnesses, while defence counsel, Barrister Ibrahim Adakawa, asked for the full case information to be made available to the defence team.
Justice Dahiru granted both applications and adjourned the matter till December 12, 2025, for further hearing.
