The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Nollywood production manager, Anierobi Courage, popularly known as Nwa South, for allegedly assaulting a crew member on a movie set.
Courage was said to have physically attacked the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze, on October 28, 2025, during the shooting of the film “Lagos to Opulence.”
A viral video of the incident showed the suspect slapping and pressing the victim’s throat, sparking widespread outrage within and outside the film industry.
Reacting to the development, the Nigeria Film Crew Community (NFCC) condemned the assault, describing it as “animalistic behaviour.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NFCC said the suspect’s arrest followed a public outcry and vowed to ensure he faces appropriate sanctions.
“The production manager violently hit and strangled Mary Chizzy Eze for speaking up against unequal treatment among the crew. While she has received medical care, he has been arrested,” the statement read.
The group also urged Nollywood producers and stakeholders to blacklist Courage, warning that such acts of abuse and intimidation would no longer be tolerated in the industry.
“This level of disregard for human dignity is unacceptable.
“We stand firmly against all forms of abuse, assault, and crew maltreatment,” the NFCC added.
