Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected serial rapist and armed robber, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, for allegedly attacking and robbing female passengers across the state.
Adegbola, whose image had circulated widely on social media following multiple complaints from victims, was apprehended by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, after an intensive, intelligence-led operation.
In a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the arrest followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered a full-scale investigation into the disturbing reports.
According to Adebisi, the suspect was arrested around 9:40 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, after coordinated efforts by a special investigation team.
A red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT, allegedly used in the commission of the crimes, was recovered during the operation and has been secured as an exhibit.
“The suspect is in custody while efforts are ongoing to track down his accomplices,” the statement read.
The police have called on victims of similar attacks to report at the SCID, Panti, to provide statements and evidence that could assist the investigation, assuring them that their identities will be fully protected.
CP Jimoh reaffirmed the command’s commitment to justice and public safety, stressing that no effort would be spared in ensuring the suspect and his collaborators face the full weight of the law.
He also promised that the command would provide further updates as investigations progress.
