The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected drug dealers allegedly responsible for distributing illicit substances across several parts of the state.
Spokesperson for the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of hard drugs and related crimes.
Shiisu said the suspects were apprehended in coordinated operations carried out in Dutse, Guri, Babura, Kanya Babba, Bulangu, and Yankwashi divisions of the command.
According to him, the raids followed credible intelligence which led to the recovery of 8,271 pieces of assorted hard drugs, including Exol, D5, Tramadol, Diazepam, rubber solution, “suck and die,” and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
He added that a cash sum of ₦235,225, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, was also recovered and registered as an exhibit.
“The case is still under investigation to uncover the supply network and other accomplices involved in the illegal trade within and outside the state,” Shiisu stated.
The spokesman urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information about criminal activities in their areas.
He said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
