Suspected terrorists have kidnapped students and staff from St. Mary’s School in Papiri community, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State. The total number of those abducted remains unknown.

A source confirmed the attack to Daily Trust on Friday, saying the school is still compiling its records.

“Yes, it is true, but I am not in a position to give details. The church will issue an official statement later in the day,” the source said.

Attempts to reach the Niger State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, could not take his call when contacted.

The attack adds to a recent surge of abductions in northern Nigeria, coming just days after terrorists struck a government school in Kebbi State, kidnapping at least 25 students.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on rescue operations or the current status of the victims.
