The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted a vessel laden with cocaine at the Apapa seaport in Lagos, arresting its captain and 19 crew members in the process.

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the ship, MV Nord Bosporus, with registration number 9760110, arrived from Santos, Brazil, before operatives uncovered 20 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed beneath its cargo.

Babafemi noted that the discovery was made on Sunday, November 16, 2025, during a coordinated operation at the port.

He added that the vessel’s master, Captain Quino Eugene Corpus, alongside 19 Filipino crew members, had been taken into custody for further investigation.

According to him, the agency has filed an ex-parte motion marked FHC/L/MISC/1306/25 before Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking an order to detain the vessel and its crew pending the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
