A woman identified as Angela Ogah is fighting for her life after her boyfriend, Timothy Gilbert, allegedly attacked her with a substance suspected to be acid in the Amufi community of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State.

Her lawyer, John Izegaegbe, confirmed the incident on Monday, saying the attack occurred over the weekend and left Ogah with severe burns.

He disclosed that a formal petition had been submitted to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, urging the command to immediately apprehend the fleeing suspect.

Ogah, who sustained life-threatening injuries, is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital where medical personnel are working to stabilise her condition.

When journalists visited, she was unable to speak as a result of the extent of the injuries she sustained.

Izegaegbe urged security agencies to intensify efforts to track down Gilbert, noting the victim’s deteriorating condition.

“We want the suspect arrested as quickly as possible.

The victim is in unbearable pain. She could barely talk when journalists visited her. Gilbert fled after attacking her with a substance suspected to be acid.

“We are calling on the authorities to ensure he is tracked down without delay.”
