A cleric, Rev Ezekiel Dachomo, has raised fresh concerns over growing insecurity in Plateau State, alleging that extremist groups are extorting residents to finance planned attacks on Christian communities ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
Rev Dachomo, who spoke at the Glory Dome in Abuja, said intelligence reports indicated that the groups are demanding N100,000 from women and N200,000 from men to purchase arms in preparation for what he described as a looming assault on Christian settlements.
“They have vowed we will not spend our Christmas this year. They say we will run with rice in our hands because they are ready for Jihad,” Dachomo said.
He urged Christians to intensify prayers, stressing that spiritual intervention remains the most potent shield against the gathering threats.
“Your prayer is more than AK-47. It’s more than rocket launchers. Let’s launch our prayers to heaven,” he urged.
The cleric further called for solidarity and intercession from believers nationwide.
“Christians must be safe. There is a genocide in Nigeria. Pray for us in Jesus’ name,” he appealed.
