Osun State Police Command has debunked a viral video circulating on social media alleging that bandits were mobilising to attack Ilesa, insisting the claim is unfounded and crafted to stir public anxiety.

The Command, in a statement on Thursday in Osogbo by its spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said preliminary findings showed that the video was artificially generated and did not reflect any real threat to the state.

Ojelabi said: “The attention of the Police Command has been drawn to a viral AI-generated video circulating on social media, falsely claiming that bandits are advancing towards Ilesa, Osun State.

“This allegation is baseless, misleading, and deliberately designed to instil fear, cause panic, and disrupt public peace.”

The Command urged residents to disregard the video, remain calm, and rely on verified information from security agencies rather than content designed to misinform.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all communities across the state.
