The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has suspended its planned December 2 governorship primary, citing unresolved issues stemming from the party’s national leadership tussle.
The chapter warned that Governor Ademola Adeleke might step back from the 2026 race if the impasse is not settled in line with INEC’s requirements and timelines.
Addressing journalists on Monday, the state chairman, Sunday Bisi, confirmed that the exercise would not proceed as earlier arranged.
He noted that the internal crisis at the national level had created conditions that made organising a credible primary impossible at the moment.
Party stakeholders said they were monitoring developments closely as consultations continued.
