Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) barely a day before the party’s scheduled governorship primary election.

The State Chairman of the PDP, Sunday Bisi, had earlier on Monday announced that the primary slated for Tuesday would no longer hold, citing deepening factional divisions.

He also hinted that the Governor had withdrawn interest in seeking the party’s ticket amid the crisis.

However, a counter-directive from the party’s national secretariat insisted the exercise would proceed as planned at the Atlantic Multipurpose Hall in Osogbo.

Amid the conflicting positions, a letter dated November 4, 2025 and signed by Governor Adeleke surfaced on Monday evening, formally conveying his resignation from the party.

The correspondence, addressed to the chairman of Sagba Ward 2 in Ede, attributed the decision to the lingering leadership crisis rocking the PDP.

According to the letter titled: “Resignation of my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)” read, “Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my Membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect.”
