The Abia State Police Command has launched a manhunt for those responsible for the killing of a Nigerian Army officer in Aba, assuring that the perpetrators will be tracked down and brought to justice.

Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, confirmed the incident and described the killing as a heinous crime, saying concerted efforts were underway to arrest and prosecute those behind it.

The slain soldier, identified as Lance Corporal David, was reportedly killed on November 21 in Aba in what was suspected to be a cult-related attack.

He was said to have been trailed to his family residence and murdered in the presence of his parents.

Speaking on the incident during his end-of-the-year media briefing in his office on Friday, the police commissioner disclosed that he personally visited the scene in Aba as part of ongoing investigations.

“The Police are on it. No culprit will be left unpunished”, the CP said.

Isa assured residents of Abia State that the command had activated a statewide security architecture to safeguard lives and property, adding that a technology-driven system had been deployed to track suspected criminals.

The police boss, who noted that the command had “encountered and decimated some non-state actors at various times”, warned other criminal groups operating in the state to embrace peace in their own interest or face the full weight of the law.
