A resident was shot and several shops looted after armed bandits stormed Baidi village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State during evening prayers, security sources said.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday night during the Isha service, was shared on X by security analyst Bakatsine. Villagers told reporters they fled their homes in fear of a repeat assault.

Bakatsine wrote: “Yesterday, during the Isha (night) prayer, armed bandits attacked Baidi village, located about 3km from Tangaza town in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. One person was shot during the attack, several shops were looted, and a phone-charging point was raided. Fearing a possible return by the attackers, residents fled their homes.”

Local sources said the raiders also ransacked a phone-charging kiosk before withdrawing. Baidi is situated roughly three kilometres from Tangaza town.

Efforts to obtain an official reaction from security agencies were unfruitful as of the time of filing. Authorities have yet to release a statement on the incident.
