The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Benibo Anabraba, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Anabraba conveyed his decision in a letter dated January 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 1 in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.

In the letter, the SSG described his exit from the party as a personal decision, thanking the PDP for the political opportunities and exposure he gained during his period of membership.

“I appreciate the political leverage gained from the party during the period of my membership,” he stated.

Anabraba did not indicate his next political destination in the letter.

However, sources close to him hinted that he may be on his way to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a development that could further reshape the state’s political landscape.
