An Ondo State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Akure has ordered the arrest and detention of a suspect, Oba Adewale Sunday Boboye, over alleged contempt of court linked to a land dispute.

The order was issued by Senior Magistrate D. S. Sekoni during proceedings at the court following the suspect’s failure to honour a court summons.

According to court documents, the suspect is accused of forcefully entering a parcel of land belonging to Olrof Nigeria Ltd located along Igoba/Akure Road in Igoba area of Akure and allegedly damaging property on the site.

The incident led to the filing of charges against him under Charge No: MAK/AMC/486/2025, after which he was directed to appear before the court.

However, he reportedly failed to comply with the summons and was subsequently invited again on the previous Friday but still did not show up.

During the last court sitting, the prosecution was led by I.O. Osobu, while A.R. Omidougha represented the defendant. Kehinde Aladedutire appeared as counsel for the nominal complainant.

Based on the suspect’s continued absence, the court invoked Section 118 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Ondo State and ordered his arrest.

A document obtained from the Chief Assistant Registrar, A.O. Akinola, confirmed that the suspect has since been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Nigeria Police Force Zone 17.

Sources also indicated that the suspect had previously been convicted for a related offence.

The case has been adjourned until March 18, 2026, for the arraignment of the defendant.
