The Senate has approved the appointment of Taiwo Oyedele as a minister under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the confirmation after lawmakers cleared Oyedele through a voice vote during the Committee of the Whole session.
Reports indicate that Oyedele is set to take over from Mrs Doris Uzoka-Anite as Minister of State for Finance.
His nomination followed a formal request from President Tinubu, who submitted Oyedele’s name to the Senate for confirmation shortly after announcing the list of ministerial nominees.
The approval marks another key step in the administration’s ongoing efforts to fill cabinet positions and strengthen governance at the federal level.
Oyedele’s confirmation comes amid heightened expectations for the Ministry of Finance, as the government seeks to implement policies to stimulate economic growth and enhance fiscal management.
Senators expressed confidence in Oyedele’s ability to contribute effectively to the ministry, citing his professional background and expertise in finance and policy matters.
With the Senate’s endorsement, Oyedele is now set to assume office and begin his official duties in the ministry, replacing Uzoka-Anite, who has served in the role for several years.
