Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday stormed the Maitama residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in Abuja, in what appeared to be a move to assume control of the property.

The officials, said to be led by Folarin Dare, reportedly arrived in about five buses. Clad in the agency’s signature red and black jackets and bearing arms, they cordoned off the area, restricting movement around the residence.

Access to the property, situated at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street in the highbrow Maitama district, was blocked as the operatives sealed the premises.

The action is believed to be linked to an ongoing probe into alleged financial misconduct, although the anti-graft agency has yet to issue an official statement on the development.

Further details are expected.
