The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Turaki has approached the Supreme Court, seeking an order to stop the group loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from holding its planned national convention.

The convention is scheduled to take place on March 29 and 30.

The Turaki-led camp, on Friday, filed an appeal challenging the ruling of the Court of Appeal, which affirmed an earlier judgement nullifying its own national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.

In its appeal, the faction contended that both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the dispute.

The development marks a fresh twist in the leadership crisis rocking the opposition party, as both camps continue to battle for control ahead of key political activities.
