The National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the All Progressives Congress, Isaacs Kekemeke, has declared his intention to contest the Ondo South Senatorial seat, pledging inclusive and people-oriented representation if elected.

Kekemeke made the declaration in Akure, stating that his decision followed persistent appeals from party leaders, women and youth groups across the senatorial district.

He described the calls as overwhelming, noting that he could no longer ignore the pressure after months of consultations with stakeholders, associates and family members.

“The more I tried to ignore the calls, the stronger they became,” he said, adding that supporters believed in his capacity, experience and integrity to deliver effective representation.

The APC chieftain highlighted his political track record, including his roles as Minority Leader in the old Ondo State House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, as well as Commissioner for Works, Lands and Housing.

He also recalled his tenure as APC State Chairman, where he contributed to strengthening the party’s structure, and his current position as the party’s South-West zonal chairman.

Kekemeke said his ambition was driven by the need to build a broad coalition that reflects the diverse interests of the district and ensures responsive governance at the federal level.

He added that after consultations with the state governor and other party leaders, he had resolved to seek the APC ticket for the senatorial election.

According to him, his focus would be on delivering fair, courageous and needs-based representation to the people of Ondo South.

He assured constituents that he would serve with humility and a strong sense of responsibility, stressing that his guiding principle would be prioritising the welfare of the people.

Kekemeke urged residents of the district to support his aspiration, promising to provide effective and impactful representation if elected.
