A Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered the remand of two suspects over alleged sexual offences involving minors, following their arraignment by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The suspects, Emeka Chidi Innocent (22) and Ayodele John (38), were docked on Tuesday before Chief Magistrate Lebi Taiwo Olalekan at the Oke Eda Magistrate Court after the NSCDC concluded preliminary investigations into separate cases reported in March and April 2026.
The corps disclosed that the arrests were made in connection with alleged defilement incidents said to have occurred on March 3 and April 14, respectively.
At the hearing, the prosecution presented its findings, after which the court held that sufficient grounds existed to proceed with the cases and subsequently ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
The matters were adjourned to May 5 and May 21, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing justice in cases involving sexual offences, particularly those affecting minors, and warned that perpetrators would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
