Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has narrated how a kidnapped pastor of the church regained freedom after he issued a stern warning to the abductors during a phone call.
The cleric disclosed this while preaching in a sermon captured in a viral video, recounting that the kidnappers had reached out to demand ransom before he personally intervened.
According to Oyedepo, he took over the call and delivered a blunt ultimatum to the criminals, warning them to release the victim within 24 hours or face dire consequences.
“One time, one of our pastors was kidnapped. When they called, I said, ‘Give me the phone,’ and I told them, ‘In 24 hours, if you don’t release him, you are dead,’” he said.
He claimed that shortly after the exchange, the atmosphere around the abductors became tense, leading to the immediate release of the cleric.
The bishop further urged members of his congregation to provide his phone number to kidnappers in the event of abduction, expressing confidence in what he described as a spiritual authority backing him.
He also shared a similar account involving a female church member who reportedly secured her freedom after invoking his instruction while in captivity.
“One of our daughters was captured, and she told them, ‘My father said I will be out by 7 am,’ and according to her, the kidnappers became unsettled,” he added.
The remarks come amid growing concerns over kidnapping incidents across parts of the country, with religious leaders increasingly speaking on faith and security challenges.
