The demonstration, led by activist Omoyele Sowore, saw participants chanting slogans and accusing the telecommunications company of shortchanging subscribers.
At the company’s premises, the protesters voiced frustration over the rising cost of data and alleged poor service delivery, insisting that Nigerians were being forced to pay more for less value.
One of the demonstrators decried the situation, noting that many customers had experienced cases where payments were made without receiving the expected data.
“We are demanding that MTN halt these excessive charges. Nigerians deserve better service.
Just last week, someone complained of paying a large sum without getting the data. That reflects what many people are going through,” the protester said.
The protest comes amid growing discontent among subscribers over telecom tariffs and service quality across the country.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students announced plans to stage protests against South African-owned businesses, including MTN and MultiChoice, over ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The students’ body said the planned action was aimed at drawing attention to the treatment of Nigerians abroad and pressing for accountability.
