The Ondo State Government has appealed to residents of the Ijoka area in Akure to remain patient and cooperative as work continues on the ongoing road construction project in the axis.
Speaking during a routine inspection of the project site, the State Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, FNSE, FNICE, FNIHTE, acknowledged the inconvenience being experienced by residents and road users, while assuring them that the government remains committed to the completion of the project.
Olawoye noted that all hands are currently on deck to ensure the successful delivery of the road project, adding that necessary measures are being put in place to ease the burden on residents and motorists affected by the construction work.
“We as a government understand the plight of road users and residents in this area. We know this project has taken longer than expected for completion, but we can only appeal to the good people of this axis to continue to exercise patience as we intensify efforts and devise means to complete the project and reduce the burden on our people,” he said.
The Commissioner further reiterated the commitment of the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to complete all inherited projects across the state, even as new developmental projects are being initiated and executed.
According to him, the Ijoka Road project is one of the inherited projects the present administration met on the ground, stressing that despite several challenges encountered on the project, government remains determined to see it through to completion.
“Ijoka Road is one of the projects we inherited. So far, we have completed almost all other inherited projects across the state. We have encountered several challenges on this particular project, but in due course, we will complete it,” Olawoye added.
